New Roof Installation? Here’s The Best Season and Why.

We’re often asked when the best time to get a new roof would be. Well, if you’ve been approved for an insurance claim for a new roof installation then you usually have a year to act. Which means you get a whole 4 seasons to decide (unless it’s leaking!). So which season is the best to install a new roof and why?

The Benefits of Installing A Roof in Fall

We install PLENTY of roofs year round, however, Fall is the most beneficial if you can wait it out. There are a few reasons for this:

1. Off Season– Fall is an “off season” for roofers because most storm damage happens during Spring and Summer. Our crews won’t be as busy and we can get to your roof sooner.
2. Predictable Weather– Our main concern is keeping your roof dry during  your new roof installation and there’s less sporadic rain during Fall season. Also, reduced humidity in the Fall helps the shingles adhere to the sheathing better.
3. Storm Season Behind Us– Most hail and strong winds occur during Spring/Summer so if you can wait it out until Fall, you’ll definitely avoid having to replace your roof twice. And consequently, avoid paying your deductible twice.
4. Winter Preparation– Piling snow on a roof can aggravate already weak shingles. When we pull off the roofing during a Fall installation, we can detect damaged areas and put in the necessary fixes to prepare for Winter weather. Plus, new shingles are more energy efficient by keeping warm air in and therefore reducing your heating costs.

But What About the Other Seasons?

A new roof installation during the other seasons is still not out of the question. It’s important that your roofing contractors selects the best time to install on weather conditions. Likewise, we select the times during the day (usually morning) with low humidity during the Summer.
