A Tale of Two Shingles
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of roof repair, it was the age of hail damage, it was the age of insurance claims. This is the tale of two shingles.
Mutual Roofing had received a lead where the insurance carrier was then only paying for a 2-shingle repair. The homeowner’s claim report clearly stated that there was “zero hail damage” and only 2 shingles needed repair, among other minor fixes. Normally, roofing contractors would turn down this job because it’s so small. Mutual Roofing, however, knows it’s important to not overlook any project – even the small ones.
We wanted to confirm the damage ourselves so we climbed on the roof to verify it was indeed only 2 damaged shingles. Immediately, Brandon noticed there was significant hail damage all over the roof. Hail damage on the lower portion of the roof and hail damage on the upper portion. He documented the damages on the roof and looked in other places (gutters, windows, siding) for anymore potential storm damage.
His next move? He encouraged the homeowner to reach back out to the insurance carrier to request a re-inspection with an adjuster. We arranged a time so that we could both meet at the roof so we could talk through the undocumented damages. There was no discrepancy and within a few minutes the adjuster agreed to all the damages onsite. What started as a “small roofing repair job” turned into getting a brand new roof for the homeowner. Additionally, we were able to find more damage in the siding, gutters, and downspouts which were approved by the insurance carrier.
The homeowner initially thought their insurance was only paying for 2 shingles. Instead, they were thrilled to learned that our meticulous inspection and diligence resulted in a brand new roof and other repairs.
