3 Clever Marketing Strategies for Roofing Contractors
3 Clever Marketing Ideas for Roofing Contractors
There are several blog posts already about marketing ideas for roofing contractors. Instead of giving you general and vague ideas, we’re going to share our secrets.
These are the things that have seen work at at our roofing company.
We hope you can learn from our ideas and use some creative strategies of your own.
Facebook Giveaways Keep People Engaged
Let’s face it.
People aren’t as interested in social media for roofing companies quite the same way they do for restaurants or retailers.
That’s because they don’t need us until they need us. (Whereas eating and shopping are much more regular occurrences in their daily lives)
So as a roofer, if you’re going to put effort into maintaining a Facebook page you need to keep people engaged. This is where giveaways come in.
If you have contests or giveaways on a semi-regular basis then people will have a reason to engage with your page and follow your content. (Make sure to read these contest rules before you start so you don’t violate Facebook’s rules)
For instance, you can’t force someone to like your page or share your post as an entry, but you can have them comment and/or like your post. The nice thing with requiring to both like and comment is that you can “invite” those who like the post to like your page. This is perfectly acceptable by Facebook’s standard. See here:
Between the contests, however, is when you can interject useful information such as “Winterization Tips For Homeowners” or any other information they would find relevant.
Other Tricks:
- You can schedule posts ahead of time to make the most of your downtime so that when hail hits, you don’t have to fall off the radar.
- It’s relatively cheap to boost posts so you can reach a broader audience.
- Be clever and succinct in your posts, people don’t want to read a lot.

Make Sure You Have Reviews
More than ever are consumers now researching products or services before they make a decision.
So what should that tell you as a roofer? Make sure you have reviews.
And no, I don’t mean reviews on your website which have a perceived bias, but third party sites which are perceived more credibly.
In order to do that, however, you need to make sure you have those pages “set up” and you’ve claimed ownership. Here are a list of social media sites that I believe all roofing contractors should set up at a minimum:
- Google– Since most people use Google, the reviews and profile page you set up here will be viewed along with your business listing.
- Angie’s List– This is the new BBB of the home services world.
- Nextdoor– Up and coming social media platform used by several homeowners.
- Facebook– Because well…it’s Facebook.
Once you’ve done that, you can start reaching out to clients to ask for reviews. We encourage emails because it’ll be easier to add links where they can easily click to leave you a review.
Make sure that you know they’ll give you a good review and if not, it presents a perfect opportunity for you to make things right.
Homeowners trust other homeowners and the best place for these strangers to intersect is through social media reviews.
Show Your Personality In Order to Stand Out
In an industry that is saturated with players, roofing contractors really need to do whatever they can to stand out.
Social media pages you maintain is a great way to do that, however, nothing is quite within your control as your own website.
Where other roofing companies are using the same sales pitch of “quality, service, craftsmanship” we encourage you to find more unique points to highlight.
Here’s an example of what we’re currently using on our site (and the feedback has been very positive!):
Tip: If you need ideas on what to write, we once used a review a client wrote about how we spoke respectfully to women and turned that into a selling point on our website.
Furthermore, we took advantage of our About page to really give personality to the team members of our company.
The underlying and implied message of our unconventional text is that we’re approachable, likable, and trustworthy. People do business with those that they like and trust.
